What is required to hold a garage sale?: Residents in West Columbia are required to obtain a no fee garage sale permit through the Police Dept. Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Residents must identify where signs will be posted. No signs may be posted in the city right-of-way (the area commonly between the street and utility pole), state right-of-way, on utility poles or traffic signs or poles, or private property unless authorized by the owner. 2. What do I need to know about my pets inside the city?: The city requires dogs to have a dog tag and be on a leash when outside the home or fenced in area. Residents must obtain a multi-pet permit for more than four animals. Dog tags & permits are valid from October 1 through September 30 and are available at the Police Dept., 310 E. Clay, West Columbia, Texas. Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.
